Rakib a 10 years old boy with light black skin, deep blue eyes and black hair. Working as a canteen boy in Surjasen Hall, DU. As a student of this hall I see him minimum four times each day, a sinless holy face. I feel a strong shock. A shame of inability hurt me. Create a wreak havoc inside me. We nearly 2500 students are living in this Hall. Sometimes I feel strange. Why we do nothing for them.
Rakib is only a single example. A lot of Rakib we see every day around us. They have born with a broken luck and carry on it because of our irresponsibility. The have no shelter. No security of food. Some of them doing heavier job than them, a tender shoulder bear heavy burden day after day. Some of them beg food and money, collect garbage and search food hear and there.
Child labor is a common phenomenon in our country. Day by day it’s increasing alarmingly. No one of us is aware of it. Always try to blame others and to find peace by showing us less responsible. Its true, Government has responsibility, but it means not that we have no responsibility. As a citizen we are strongly unwilling to play our role, and to expand our helping hands towards them. But now, time is to revise our thinking. Because key to change is in our hands. It is just a matter of starting with passion.
As youth I firmly belief our sincere effort can break this deadlock situation of curse. We have potentiality, courage, capability and responsibility also. We have to perform it properly. As a student we can provide them basic education in our spare time, can give them nutritious foods one in a week or month based on our capacity. Through our effort if we able to save a children’s life it will be a great investment for the nation.
We certainly hope a better Bangladesh. It is an impossible dream without saving our real resource of future. Today’s children are our real future of tomorrow. That’s why we must save this resource from peril.
It’s the appropriate time to play our role, to stand up, to make contribution and to bring change. So take the responsibility and change the country. Because, together we can do more for our country.
